John is currently continuing his ministerial studies in the Course of Study program at Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary on the campus of Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois.
Prior to being called into the ministry, John served in various positions with the Greater Indianapolis Chamber of Commerce starting in 1980, and most recently served as President from 1991 through 2005. John serves on numerous community and civic boards, including: the Board of Trustees of the University of Indianapolis, the President’s Advisory Group of the Church Federation, the Indianapolis Indians, the United Christmas Service, Metro Ministries and The Oaks Academy where he serves as Chairman of the Board. He is a recipient of the Sagamore of the Wabash, the state’s highest honor. He also served in the Stephen Ministry at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church from 2005-2006.
John is a native of Evanston, Illinois, and a 1969 graduate of Elkhart High School in Elkhart, Indiana. He graduated from Indiana University with a degree in radio and television in 1973. In their spare time, John and his wife Nancy enjoy golf, baseball, travel, and spending time with their two Labrador Retrievers, Ernie and Luke.
