Ministries

The McCordsville United Methodist Men encompass all the men of the church. This group meets on the second Monday at 6:30 p.m. for dinner, at the church, between September and April.

The McCordsville United Methodist Men is the group to thank for the maintenance of the grounds of the church. They keep the grass mowed during the spring, summer and fall as well as manicuring bushes and trimming trees. This group is involved with many activities including helping the transient population and the community as a whole through Community Sharing. They also work with the youth of Hancock County through the local Boy Scout and Cub Scout organizations and support the Indiana United Methodist Children’s Home in Lebanon, Indiana, which is a residential treatment facility dedicated to helping boys and girls with educational, emotional and behavioral difficulties.

There are many annual fellowship activities the men sponsor including a Valentine’s Day Dinner for the ladies of the church, an Easter breakfast, a Mother’s Day lunch and a cookout every October.

The McCordsville United Methodist Men are also a part of a local ecumenical group with Nazarene, Christian, Methodist and other church denominations that meet every second Saturday of the month for breakfast, rotating the hosting church.

All the women of the McCordsville United Methodist Church are United Methodist Women. This group of dedicated ladies meets every first Tuesday at noon for a Day Circle pitch-in luncheon, at the church. The exception is the month of December when a Christmas Brunch replaces the Day Circle luncheon. As a bonus, at each meeting a member of the group shares a story or lesson with the group. Additionally, an offering is collected at each event to support the ladies efforts such as taking care of the kitchen needs and equipment, supporting Vacation Bible School and other needs.

The women of this church support Red Bird Mission, Lucille Raines Home, the Christian Children’s Home in Fortville and the School of Mission. Campbell’s Soup can labels and various labels from other Campbell’s products are collected for the Henderson Settlement and Red Bird Missionary conference to assist in obtaining education equipment.   For a complete list of products, check our monthly newsletter. Cancelled postage stamps (including a ¼” border of the envelope) are also collected to aid in various mission activities. The United Methodist Women also conduct miscellaneous fundraising initiatives such as selling t-shirts for Lord’s Acre, and creating hand-made gifts and delicious treats for various Bazaar tables at Lord’s Acre and the Thanksgiving Dinner among other events.

Prayer Ministry

Prayer is a powerful thing…especially when you have Emily Thomas, McCordsville United Methodist Church’s own “Prayer Warrior.”

As one member of the congregation recently stated, “Emily is praying for you whether you know it or not.” Emily also leads our Potter’s House Prayer Circle which meets before worship service, every Sunday at 9 a.m. She stays current on prayer trends through being a member of the Church Prayer Leader’s Network and being an avid reader of Prayer Magazine. Emily is a tremendous asset to the pastor in all areas of prayer need and spiritual care giving.
