Matthew's Playground

Remembering the past, building the future

We are currently in the fundraising phase for or our new community playground project.  Our playground is being dedicated to the Memory of Matthew Clegg.  Matthew, a member of our Church family, passed away in May 2016 at the age of 7.  It is our hope that this playground will serve as a lasting tribute to Matthew by providing fun and fellowship to children of all ages for many years to come.  Our goal is to hold the dedication for the playground on Matthew's 10th birthday which is June 7, 2018.

How you can help

Our Goal is to raise at least $20,000 to cover the equipment and installation.  Check out our coming events on our home page for upcoming fundraisers.  You can make a donation in one of the following ways.

  • On-line using the link below.  Create an account and select one time donation.  Please include a message to indicate "Playground Fund".
  • Checks can be made out to McCordsville United Methodist Church with "Playground Fund" noted on the memo line.  They can be mailed to the church or dropped into the offering plate on Sunday.

We are installing a sign with the playground to recognize donations of $100 or more.  If you would like your name included or if you would like to make your donation "In Memory" of a loved one, please include a note indicating this.

About Matthew

Matthew was a typical 7 year old boy.  He loved Star Wars, Legos, and video games.  He got straight A's in school at Mt.Comfort Elementary and loved to dance to any upbeat music.  He enjoyed being outdoors; going to parks and swimming.  He liked Colts football and was a Peyton Manning fan, but he never got the chance to attend a game.

He grew up with the church since he was born.  He liked to attend Sunday School and Vacation Bible School every summer.  Some of his favorite activities included our Halloween Parties and Easter Egg hunts.

He is missed greatly by all who knew him and is talked about often.  We hope this playground will give others the chance to get to know him and keep his memory alive.
