What to Expect

You can expect to be welcomed with a smiling face and open arms. Everyone is welcome in our building no matter who you are or where you come from. Come as you are. We have no dress codes. Some people like to dress up a bit and others wear shorts and t-shirts. Both are welcome. We want you to feel comfortable while you are here. Jesus didn’t wear a suit and tie so we don’t think you should have to either. If you are new, we would be happy to show you around our building. Just ask one of our greeters or ushers and we will be happy to help.

Traditional Service

Sundays - 9:30 am. If you have visited us in the past, our traditional service remains the same as always with a beautiful combination of organ and piano music and our talented Choir lead by worship leader Tim Murfin.  Pastor Daniel presents the scripture and sermon each week. Communion is held on the first Sunday of the month and is open to anyone.

Modern Vintage Service

Sundays at 11:11 am. Our modern vintage service is a wonderful blend of contemporary music featuring our praise Band lead by Cory Shover. We still incorporate a few traditional worship elements in the setting of our beautiful sanctuary. Pastor Daniel presents the scripture and sermon each week. Communion takes place on the 1st Sunday of each month and is open to anyone.

If you have been looking for that modern church feel in the intimacy of a smaller traditional setting, we hope you can find it here. come visit us.

Children’s Ministry

Child Care - Available for infants and toddlers in our nursery which is located on the same level close to our Sanctuary. There is also a quiet area next to the sanctuary with seating and speakers that is available. Check-in is available near the main entrance and we will be happy to show you to the nursery and answer any questions.

Children’s worship - Our program is open to all Elementary age children and takes place during our worship service in our classrooms on our main level. We use the “Orange” program for our lessons which may feature videos, crafts and fun activities to teach a lesson of the bible. Check-in is available near the main entrance and we will be happy to show you to the classrooms and answer any question.

All of our volunteers that work with children undergo background checks and must complete a training program before they can work with any age child.

A Brief History

1849 - a group of residents in town began a class in the Robb School house.

1854 - The first church in McCordsville as built and dedicated Gillum Chapel in honor of Rev. N.H. Gillum.  The chapel was located North of the railroad tracks just West of Olio Road.  Gillum Chapel Cemetery was located next to the church and can be visited today.

1902 - A storm destroyed Gillum Chapel and a new building was constructed. That building stood just a few blocks east of our present location. At the time it was know as McCordsville Methodist Episcopal Church.

1921 - the growth in town required that a new church building be constructed. Construction started and the cornerstone and time capsule was dedicated in 1921.

1922 - Construction was completed and our current building opened in September that year.

2009 - the first expansion in 87 years brought the addition of our beautiful fellowship hall, kitchen, classrooms, offices, restrooms and added ADA accessibility to our sanctuary. The expansion opened in November 2009 for our Thanksgiving dinner.

2018 - We built and dedicated “Matthew’s Playground” on June 7th. Our playground is open to the entire community. We raised over $29,000 in 8 months with the help and generosity of local businesses, members of the community, and church members.
