What to Expect
You can expect to be welcomed with a smiling face and open arms. Everyone is welcome in our building no matter who you are or where you come from. Come as you are. We have no dress codes. Some people like to dress up a bit and others wear shorts and t-shirts. Both are welcome. We want you to feel comfortable while you are here. Jesus didn’t wear a suit and tie so we don’t think you should have to either. If you are new, we would be happy to show you around our building. Just ask one of our greeters or ushers and we will be happy to help.

A Brief History
1849 - a group of residents in town began a class in the Robb School house.
1854 - The first church in McCordsville as built and dedicated Gillum Chapel in honor of Rev. N.H. Gillum. The chapel was located North of the railroad tracks just West of Olio Road. Gillum Chapel Cemetery was located next to the church and can be visited today.
1902 - A storm destroyed Gillum Chapel and a new building was constructed. That building stood just a few blocks east of our present location. At the time it was know as McCordsville Methodist Episcopal Church.
1921 - the growth in town required that a new church building be constructed. Construction started and the cornerstone and time capsule was dedicated in 1921.
1922 - Construction was completed and our current building opened in September that year.
2009 - the first expansion in 87 years brought the addition of our beautiful fellowship hall, kitchen, classrooms, offices, restrooms and added ADA accessibility to our sanctuary. The expansion opened in November 2009 for our Thanksgiving dinner.
2018 - We built and dedicated “Matthew’s Playground” on June 7th. Our playground is open to the entire community. We raised over $29,000 in 8 months with the help and generosity of local businesses, members of the community, and church members.
