Our Youth

We LOVE our kids!

The children of our community are very important to us. We love our children and are passionate about teaching them that they are loved by God and their church family.

We have many opportunities for your children to learn and grow and we would like to invite you to visit us anytime to see what we have to offer.

The safety of our children is a priority. That's why all our our youth leaders and volunteers participate in a yearly child protection training program and must pass a police background check.

CHILDREN'S Church
For our elementary age children

Each Sunday, all the children are invited to the front of our Sanctuary during service for a "Childrens Moment." They will learn a lesson and a prayer is offered just for them.

The children remain in the Sanctuary during prayer time and for the day's special music.

Following the special music, preschool and Kindergarten age children are escorted to the classroom where they can play together and participate in activities or crafts.

Nursery
For ages 3 and younger

For the little ones, we have a nursery/preschool room next to the Sanctuary. You may leave your little one with our nursery attendant or you are more than welcome to join them. See one of our greeters or ushers for assistance.

Youth Group
Grades 7 through 12

McCordsville United Methodist Church's Youth Group is open to everyone in grades 7-12. You don't have to live in the community or attend church to join the group. We welcome any youth who is interested in meeting with others their own age outside of school in a safe and fun enviroment.

The Youth Group uses the second floor at the church and it is equipped for a great time just for them. Don't miss out on our meetings because we will be planning our future events, trips, service projects and having fun.

Meetings will be held on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month from 6:30 - 8:00 p.m. The group will also get together the first Sunday each month with a fun activity outside the church.  Past activities have included everything from bowling and roller skating to tubing at Perfect North and a Christian music concert at Kings Island.  The group earns these special activities by participating in the service projects.

For more information, call Amy Reeves at 317-695-0472.

Sunday School

Our children's Sunday School class meets during service each week. This class is geared toward our elementary and pre-school age children.

The children will learn a Bible story, make a craft or have an activity and have a snack. Please let us know of any allergy concerns.  We are currently using the "What's in the Bible" program from the creator of Veggie Tales.

Special Events

Durning the year, we host several events just for the kids. Some of our regular events include:

  • Easter Egg Hunt with the Easter Bunny each spring.
  • Vacation Bible School held in June.
  • A child-friendly Halloween Party in October.
  • A Christmas event held in December.
  • Special activities throughout the year.

Questions, Volunteering and Donations

We are always looking for volunteers to help out with all of our activities and in need of donations to help fund these events. Without volunteers and donations, none of these activities for the youth could take place. Please feel free to ask one of the following members at our church for more information.

David Clegg - Head of our Christian Education/Youth team and Special Activities Coordinator
Amy Reeves - Youth Group Coordinator
Amanda Clegg - Lead Nursery Attendant
Jo Scott - Sunday School Coordinator
