Our Partnership
More Than an Annual Celebration
McCordsville United Methodist Church shares an ongoing relationship with Little Sisters of the Poor in Indianapolis, whose ministry provides a home and compassionate care for older adults in need.
What began as an opportunity to support the Sisters and residents has grown into a meaningful partnership throughout the year. Our church family participates through gifts, hands-on service, special projects, fellowship, and our annual celebration together.
Just as importantly, this relationship works both ways. Little Sisters of the Poor also shares resources with MUMC that can be put to good use in ministries serving people throughout our own community.

A Partnership That Works Both Ways
Our relationship with Little Sisters of the Poor is more than giving. By sharing resources, time, and opportunities to serve, both organizations are able to extend their reach and help more people.
MUMC Supporting Little Sisters
Our church family supports the Sisters and residents through requested gifts and supplies, volunteer service, special projects, fellowship, and our annual celebration. Volunteers help prepare gifts, pack supplies, transport items, set up, serve, visit with residents, and help wherever hands are needed.
Little Sisters Supporting Our Community
When Little Sisters has useful items they cannot use, they have shared those resources with MUMC. Food, clothing, walkers, wheelchairs, and other convalescent equipment can then find their way into ministries serving families and individuals throughout our community.

Four Ways to Be Part of Something Special
Throughout October, our church family is coming together to support and celebrate our friends at Little Sisters of the Poor.
Marmalade with a Mission
Join us for a hands-on day of making orange marmalade for our friends at Little Sisters of the Poor. Everyone is welcome—no experience needed. Come learn, lend a hand, and enjoy the fellowship.

Stay after worship and help prepare chocolates, hard candy, and batteries for the residents. Cookies will be waiting for our volunteers.
Birthday Celebration
Join us for an afternoon of fellowship and celebration with the residents of Little Sisters of the Poor in Indianapolis.
Traveling with the group? Meet at the Wagners at 10:30 AM to pack the vehicles and travel together.
Setup: 12–2 PM
Celebration: 2–4 PM
Cleanup: 4–5 PM
Volunteers are invited to join the Wagners for dinner at Athens at 5:30 PM following cleanup.

Help us gather items requested by the Sisters and residents. Shop online through our Amazon Wish List or download the printable shopping list and shop wherever you prefer.
Please bring donations to MUMC by Sunday, October 18.
An MUMC Tradition
Our Annual Celebration
Each year, members and friends of MUMC come together for a special celebration with the residents and Sisters of Little Sisters of the Poor.
The celebration is about much more than gifts. It is an opportunity to spend time together, share conversation and laughter, lend a hand, and continue friendships that have grown through this partnership.

Honoring the Habit
Saturday, August 28, 2027In 2027, our annual celebration will move to August for a special gathering honoring Saint Jeanne Jugan, founder of the Little Sisters of the Poor.
More information will be shared as plans are finalized.
