FOOD PANTRY
We are the home of the McCordsville United Methodist Food Pantry.
What started as small project helping out less than 10 families and has now grown into a Ministry. We serve our community experiencing food insecurities with nutritious food on a weekly basis, working closely with Gleaners, Midwest Food Bank and our very generous congregation.
Our pantry is open weekly every Wednesdays from 9:00-11:00 AM.
In addition, under the Food Pantry umbrella, we have several other programs that serve our Food Pantry patrons.
In McCordsville, we engage with the community by participating in the McCordsville Market at McCord Square twice a year. You can typically find us there in June and again for the final event in October. When you stop by our booth, you’ll notice that we’re not selling anything; instead, we’re focused on promoting our Food Pantry. Our goal is to raise awareness about food insecurity in our community and guide those in need toward available assistance.
The Dirt to Dish program, sponsored by Robin Wagner and her team of gardeners. This year (2025) they provided over 600 vegetable plants suitable for growth in buckets or pots to the patrons of the Food Pantry.
Pack the Truck program, sponsored by the Outreach Ministry, where we pack the bed of a pick up with shelf stable foods, such as canned goods (fruits and vegetables) and boxed goods (cereals, mac and cheese, etc.). All items add to the Food Pantry stores for upcoming distribution to our patrons
Meijer Simply Give Program - McCordsville United Methodist Church participates in the Meijer Simply Give program twice a year. This program benefits our Food Pantry each time a person purchases a “Simply Give” gift card during our designated time. For every $10 (minimum) Simply Give card, Meijer matches.
Twice during each campaign Meijer will double their match, for example, the initial $10 card will equal $30 for the Food Pantry
Our partnering Meijer store is #296 - McCordsville, IN located at 6939 W. Broadway.
Food Florist, sponsored b the Outreach Ministry, done twice a year , where the congregation purchases ready made frozen meals. The Food Pantry receives a percentage of all sales, which in turn allows it to purchase additional items for the Pantry.
Reverse Advent project, sponsored by Marge Phillips. Every Holiday Season, beginning on December 1st, we ask our congregation to place one (1) item in a box, every day, until December 25th. These boxes are then distributed to the Food Pantry patrons at the beginning of the New Year.
Donations can also be made on Wednesday’s during hours of operation. If you care to make donations outside our hours of operation please call, text or email the MUMC Food Pantry. To make a monetary donation online click here and make a note that donation is for the food pantry.
