Family & Children: The Twelve Gifts of Christmas
During the Twelve Days of Christmas (December 25–January 5), families are invited to slow down, celebrate Jesus together, and discover the gifts He brings into our lives. These simple activities use the same Twelve Gifts shared by the whole church, written in kid-friendly language for all ages.
Day 1 – God With Us (Incarnation)
Activity: Build or draw a manger together.
Talk About: God choosing to come close to us.
Day 2 – Peace That the World Cannot Give
Activity: Sit quietly together for one minute.
Talk About: How Jesus brings peace to our hearts.
Day 3 – Light in the Darkness
Activity: Light a candle together.
Talk About: Jesus as the light of the world.
Day 4 – Mercy
Activity: Share a kind note, hug, or encouraging word.
Talk About: God’s love and forgiveness.
Day 5 – Hope That Anchors the Soul
Activity: Write or draw something you hope for.
Talk About: Trusting God even when things feel uncertain.
Day 6 – Joy Made Complete
Activity: Sing a favorite song or share a happy Christmas memory.
Talk About: Joy that comes from knowing Jesus.
Day 7 – New Creation
Activity: Water a plant or talk about how things grow.
Talk About: God making things new.
Day 8 – Wisdom
Activity: Read a bedtime story and talk about what it teaches.
Talk About: Asking God to help us make good choices.
Day 9 – The Presence of the Holy Spirit
Activity: Blow bubbles or feel the wind outside.
Talk About: God’s Spirit being with us even when we can’t see Him.
Day 10 – Belonging in the Family of God
Activity: Look at family or church photos together.
Talk About: Belonging to God’s family.
Day 11 – Purpose and Calling
Activity: Do one small act of kindness together.
Talk About: God giving us ways to help others.
Day 12 – Revelation: Light to the Nations
Activity: Follow a star (drawn or imagined) to your nativity scene.
Talk About: The Wise Men and Jesus coming for everyone.
Epiphany – January 6
Epiphany celebrates the revelation of Jesus Christ to the world. As the star guided the Wise Men to Bethlehem, we remember that Jesus came for everyone, everywhere, and His light still shines today.
